How to use Cover and Sketchup

1. First, you have to install the Cover' Sketchup Plugin into the Sketchup software. This is quick and easy.

Launch Sketchup. Go to the Extensions tab and choose Extension Manager.

Click on Install Extension, a dialog box will then open. Go to the following path in your Cover 3D installation:

C:\Cover\bin\sketchup (by default). Select the Sketchup plugin and click Open.

The plugin installation is complete. You should end up with this:

2. You can now import your Cover 3D projects into Sketchup. This is just as quick and easy as the last one. You should now have a new option in the Extensions tab: "Cover". Just hover your mouse over it and choose Import Cover Project.

This selection will open. Search for your project by name and select it.

3. After importing your project into SketchUp, you can create scenes. It is possible to move the camera to take the angle you'd like:

You can of course rename your scene.

Once you have created your views, you can then export them to Cover 3D via the "extensions" menu. By default, these views are exported to the project folder.

4. Exporting previously created scenes to Cover 3D documents.

There is a Word document called Sketchup.doc in which bookmarks have been placed, it is added in the Cover 3D sales report. By default, there are 3 bookmarks:

SKP_FRONT

SKT_RIGHT

SKP_LEFT

At the bookmark level, the name you put behind SKP_ is the name of the view. For example, if you have named your view front, face or other, you must change the name of the bookmark with the name of the view. The prefix SKP_ is mandatory.

Once this is done, you can generate your document and you will have the SketchUp views at the end of the document.
